Meet the Certified
Animal Trainers

Aleisha Largent

Experienced Animal Trainer and Owner

I founded Covenant Keeper's K9 Training Facility in 2017. My services are fully certified and involve collaborations with veterinarians as needed.

I was raised on farms and ranches on the western slope of Colorado, attributing to my love for animals. At a young age, I knew I wanted to work with animals. I have worked in the animal care field since the age of 12 and have been training animals since the age of 16. As a senior in High School, I professionally trained my 1st canine, a 1-year-old Siberian Husky, for competition. I have trained wild mustangs from the BLM and multiple horses, from weanling gentling to advanced saddle work. I have taken multiple dogs through the AKC Good Canine Citizen evaluation (CGC) and have titled one of my dogs as a National and International Champion in conformation/showmanship. I currently train my own dogs for dock diving, scent work, and rally and obedience competitions. I also am the dog leader for Delta County 4-H, helping the kids learn to train and build bonds with their dogs. I graduated from the Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Behavior and Training in June 2017. I am a Fear Free Certified Professional and have completed the Fear Free Certification, Fear Free Puppy, and Kitten and Leadership courses. I have also completed the Better Veterinary Visits course through the Karen Pryor Academy. I am a member of the Animal Behavior Society, International Association Of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT), and International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP). I am a CCPDT-KA certified trainer, Canine Life and Social Skill (CLASS) Evaluator, DWYD certified instructor, AKC STAR Puppy & CGC Evaluator, AKC Trick Dog Evaluator, AKC ATT evaluator, and AKC Farm Dog Certified Judge. I enjoy learning and strive to be the best I can be, and I will continue to grow and add to these certifications.

In my free time, you will find me in the great outdoors, hicking, fishing, hunting, camping, and paddle boarding with my three daughters, Cambria, Xavia, and Savannah, and our multitude of dogs. My beautiful girls share my love and passion for animals and compete in dog shows and 4H. They also actively assist me in training and caring for dogs.

Donna Maurer

Certified Dog Trainer

I grew up in Chicago, IL. I was obsessed with all animals and loved any book or TV show about animals. I collected dog and horse statues and learned as much as I could about the breeds.

I got a Cosmetology license and did hair in the 80s. I married John and have two daughters, Abby and Katy. I worked in a K-12 school as a Librarian/Art teacher/Computer teacher and Special Ed aide. I moved to Montrose, CO, in 2018 when John worked at Montrose Hospital. I worked at Montrose Animal Shelter for over two years. I took courses in dog behavior and training because I knew they needed help to get adopted. I am certified through the Animal Behavior Institute (CCTBS-Certified Canine Training & Behavior Specialist; CACTP-Certified Advanced Canine Training Professional).

I recently graduated from the puppy training course at Karen Pryor Academy. I am currently working on certification through WEBB (Whole Energy Body Balance) to relieve pain, tension, restriction, and trauma in dogs/cats through hands-on neuro-fascial bodywork. I will be the 5th person in the US who is certified. I also believe in continued education and will continue to seek out any classes/programs that will help with dog behavior and training education.

I own three big dogs (Lab/GSD, a St. Bernard/Pyrenees, and a Pit/Heeler. I also have seven cats due to my time fostering kittens at the shelter.
